Registration and Calibration of Scales - Maryland Secondhand Precious Metal Objects Dealers & Pawnbrokers

Scales or other devices used by dealers to determine the weight of a secondhand precious metal object involved in a transaction must be registered with the Weights and Measures Program of the Maryland Department of Agriculture. Scales and meters used by dealers in transactions must be registered each year by May 31. The registration certificate for each scale must be conspicuously displayed for public viewing.
