Now that you have passed the Uniform CPA Examination you need to do the following in order to obtain a license as a CPA in Maryland:
- Document 1 year of Experience. You must document 1 year (2000 hours) of experience on the Report of Practical Work Experience with the Board. The experience that you report on the Report of Practical Experience must be earned within the three years immediately preceding your application. Please make sure that an active licensed CPA endorses your experience. When you are ready to apply for the Maryland CPA license, submit your ethics course completion certificate (see below) with your Report of Practical Experience.
- Complete an Ethics Course. You must successfully complete the home study course, “Professional Ethics: the AICPA’s Comprehensive Course”, that is offered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Information concerning the professional ethics course can be obtained by calling the AICPA at 1-888-777-7077. Information is also available on the AICPA Website.
Once you have successfully completed the ethics course from the AICPA, attach a copy of the course completion certificate to your Report of Practical Work Experience and send both to:
