#24-007 Jockey, Andres Chavez is in violation of the HISA riding crop rule #2280 (b)(1). During the running of the first race on February 2, 2024, jockey Chavez hit his mount “Maryland Moon” 9 times which is in violation of the 6 strike rule. On February 3, 2024 a hearing was held to review the race. The Stewards issued the following penalty.

1. Mr. Chavez is fined Two hundred and fifty ($250.00) dollars.
2. Mr. Chavez is suspended one (1) racing day, February 11, 2024.

#24-008 In the matter of the third race at Laurel Park on November 9, 2023;

On February 6, 2024, owner Albert P. Abdala failed to show for his appeal hearing with the Maryland Racing Commission. The matter has been closed by the Maryland Racing Commission and the third race from November 9, 2023 is now declared official.

The purse monies affected by the dispute are to be released by the Horsemen's Bookkeeper.
