Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act - CPA Examination - Public Accountancy
The Maryland Board of Public Accountancy complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act in accommodating examination candidates with special needs. Any candidate requesting special assistance or accommodations due to a handicapping condition must submit to the Board documentation of the need for accommodation from a licensed physician qualified to make an evaluation.
The documentation should:
- establish the existence of a "disability" within the meaning of applicable law;
- describe how the resulting functional limitations impact the individual's ability to take the examination;
- demonstrate the need for an accommodation; and
- specifically identify the accommodation(s) that are believed to be appropriate.
The evaluation should be no more than three years prior to the examination and it shouldinclude a history of previous accommodations. Download the ADA Accommodations Request Form (Word).
If you are requesting an accommodation for the first time, documentation must be submitted with this form in a sealed envelope with your name and indicate ATTN: CPA Exam Coordinator. Your ADA accommodations request cannot be processed until all required documents are received. DO NOT register for any section of the exam until your request is reviewed and approved. If you do it will cause significant delays in you being able to take the exam.
