Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam - Professional Engineers
Approval from the Maryland PE Board is NOT required to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam. The FE exam is a computer-based exam administered year-round at NCEES-approved Pearson VUE test centers. Engineer in Training (EIT)* Certificate Requirements
(1) they have successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam administered by NCEES
(2) pay a certification fee set by the Board. The fee for an EIT certificate is currently $17.00.
*EIT is a certification and is NOT a Professional Engineering license.
EIT Certification grants NO privileges to practice engineering. Furthermore, the issuance of an EIT certificate does not guarantee the issuance of a license to practice engineering. The requirements cited in §14–305 (b, c or d) of the Business and Occupations Article, must be met before applying to take the Principles and Practice examination. All candidates for a Professional engineer’s license must meet all required educational, experience, and examination requirements.
