The Maryland Department of Labor/Division of Occupational Professional Licensing oversees the Board of Plumbing. Information on the state and/or local adoption of the Plumbing Codes is contained on these pages. Baltimore County and local jurisdictions under the authority of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission are exempt from the state plumbing laws. The Office of the State Fire Marshal has the authority to adopt the electrical code for the state. Certain local jurisdictions may adopt their own electrical codes.
