Department of Labor’s Barbara Ebel Named to Daily Record Top 100 Women for 2018

BALTIMORE (May 2, 2018) – Barbara Ebel, the Department of Labor’s regional labor exchange administrator for Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, was named to The Daily Record’s 2018 listing of Maryland’s Top 100 Women. The Top 100 recognizes outstanding achievements demonstrated through professional accomplishments, community leadership, and mentoring.

“We are extremely proud of Barbara,” said Labor Secretary Kelly M. Schulz. “Her passion and dedication to her community are evidenced by the numerous organizations she supports, and the more than 20 years she has given to public service with the state of Maryland. Barbara is a leader in the state, a true humanitarian and a tireless advocate for those who need it most.”

Nearly 425 women were nominated this year for the statewide honor. Nominees were asked to complete an application outlining their educational and career history, professional and community involvement, corporate and nonprofit board memberships, and mentoring experience. They were encouraged to submit letters of recommendation from those who are familiar with their accomplishments professionally, in the community and through mentoring.

Barbara was nominated by Veronica Cool of Cool & Associates, a full-service management consulting firm that brings Hispanic strategy, workforce development, education, marketing, and outreach to the forefront of any business. “Barbara is the whole package,” Cool noted in her nomination. “An internationally recognized workforce development expert that oversees two of the largest counties in Maryland, ensuring people have the opportunities and resources to advance. She marries her exceptional expertise with committed community work… [to] provide a voice to those without one.”

A panel of business professionals and previous Maryland’s Top 100 Women honorees from throughout the state reviewed the final applications and selected this year’s honorees.

“Each of this year’s Maryland Top Women 100 honorees is unique in what she does, but all share common traits that move our state forward. They lead companies, chart new territory, and mentor future generations,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “These women inspire those around them by their actions and their words. The Daily Record is pleased to honor their many achievements.”

The Maryland's Top 100 Women awards celebration winners are profiled in a special magazine inserted into the April 24 issue of The Daily Record.
