Maryland Apprenticeship Incentive Program - Office of Apprenticeship
Maryland is investing in apprenticeship as a proven workforce solution. The Maryland Apprenticeship Incentive Program helps employers offset the cost of training Registered Apprentices, making it easier to build skilled talent while growing your business.
Program Overview
Under the Maryland Apprenticeship Incentive Program, Maryland Registered Apprenticeship sponsors or employers may receive up to $3,000 for each newly registered adult apprentice, or up to $7,500 for each newly registered high school level apprentice, to offset eligible training expenses.
Eligible Costs
Grant funds may be used to support a range of apprenticeship-related expenses, including:
- Instructional expenses (tuition, fees, books, materials)
- Mentorship and on-the-job learning expenses
- Apprentice recruitment expenses
- Costs associated with disability accommodations
- Supportive services for apprentices
Eligibility Requirements
- Applications must be submitted within 30 days of an apprentice’s initial registration with the MD Labor Office of Apprenticeship
- Apprentices must be within their first year of employment as a Registered Apprentice
- Apprentices must remain employed and registered for at least seven months following application submission

About the Program
Established under the Registered Apprenticeship Investment for a Stronger Economy (RAISE) Act, the Maryland Apprenticeship Incentive Program is a grant program designed to assist Maryland businesses with the costs of training Registered Apprentices. By reducing barriers to participation and supporting employer investment in Registered Apprenticeship, the Maryland Apprenticeship Incentive Program advances Maryland’s commitment to expanding apprenticeship opportunities, building a pipeline of skilled workers, and aligning training with industry needs.
