Becoming an apprentice starts with finding an apprenticeship program that is right for you. Start by using Maryland’s Apprenticeship Locator to search apprenticeship programs by county, occupation, industry, or sponsor. From there, you can find a program’s contact information to request additional information about positions, deadlines, and other requirements.
Apprenticeships are jobs from day one. Most require an application and/or interview. Apprentices must be eligible to work in the United States.
Using the Apprenticeship Locator
The Apprenticeship Locator is an interactive list of Registered Apprenticeship programs. The programs have indicated that they expect to have openings for new apprentices. The Locator can be filtered by location, occupation, or industry.
When using the Locator it is important to remember:
- Apprenticeships listed on the Locator may not have immediate openings. Candidates should contact the program directly to request information about openings and how to apply.
- Most apprenticeships require little to no experience or education, but qualifications vary by program.
- The Locator is updated regularly, so check back for updates and changes. Contact the individual apprenticeship programs directly for updated information.
