Hire a Minor With A Work Permit As An Apprentice - Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Program (MATP)
SB 172 - “Employment for Minors – Opportunities for Work (Job Opportunities for High School Students Act),” passed by the General Assembly during the 2023 legislative session, allows for the following entities to request information on minors who are at least 16 years old and have a work permit from the Maryland Department of Labor:
- Employers Registered Apprenticeship Sponsors;
- Educational Programs and Institutions;
- Local Workforce Development Boards that have systems to share the information with employers, Apprenticeship Sponsors, and educational programs and institutions that register with the Local Workforce Development Board for the purpose of receiving the information.
In order to request this information, the above entities must first register with the Department. To register, entities must fill out this Registration For Minor Work Permit Information form.
Once your registration has been completed, if you are interested in receiving the name, home address, and telephone number of a minor with a work permit who is at least 16 years of age, the above entities may fill out this Request to Receive Minor Work Permit Information form.
