Accelerating Cyber Careers - Workforce Development & Adult Learning

Accelerating Cyber Careers

The Department, in partnership with the Governor’s Workforce Development Board (GWDB) and the Department of Information Technology (DOIT), is partnering to issue grant funding to support the development of cyber ranges that will provide in-demand cybersecurity training. Cyber ranges are interactive, simulated platforms that have been identified as a critical tool for providing hands-on experiential learning in a secure environment meant to bolster the availability of highly skilled workers to meet the growing demand for cybersecurity professionals across the State.

The Accelerating Cyber Careers program will ensure cybersecurity employers have the highly-skilled workforce they need by offering hands-on training opportunities while simultaneously expanding access to populations that have been historically underrepresented in the industry.

The program is the first to be launched through the Talent Innovation Fund, which was enacted by the Maryland General Assembly in 2024.

The Department issued a call for proposals on August 27, 2024. Applications are due October 4, 2024 and grants will begin on November 1, 2024. A Pre-Proposal Conference will be held on September 4, 2024 at 1:00 PM. To register, please e-mail Mary Keller. The Solicitation can be found below.
