Workforce System Success Stories - Workforce Development and Adult Learning
Meet Deb...
Workforce system staff offered Deb the support and confidence she needed to find a job that was a perfect fit
Working adults spend a large portion of their daily lives at their jobs, and it’s only natural for them to want that time to be meaningful. So when Deb found herself in a job that was unsatisfying, she decided to release herself from that commitment and dedicate herself full-time to finding something that was a better match. She spent about seven months looking for an employment opportunity aligned with her values and career goals.
Deb attended a variety of workshops offered by the Frederick County Workforce System (FCWS) during this period that helped her refine her job search, prepare targeted resumes, and practice her interviewing skills. She was called in for several interviews, before a job came along that really excited her. She applied and was delighted when she was called in for an interview. On the morning of the interview, Deb worked with an FCWS Program Specialist the morning of her interview. The Program Specialist talked through potential questions and gave her a positive mindset that empowered her to bring her best self to the meeting. Within a matter of days, Deb received the happy news that she was selected to fill the opening.
Deb was very grateful for the support she found through FCWS that brought her to her new job. “I really appreciated the input. The workshops gave me so many helpful tips and information."
