Resources for People with Disabilities
Maryland offers a number of job resources and services for people with disabilities.

American Job Centers
Maryland’s American Job Centers can help job seekers with accommodations, such as materials in alternate formats, help completing forms, and access to assistive technology. Job seekers are welcome to bring a job coach or other support person with them.
Each American Job Center has different equipment, so please check with your center before you arrive. You may need to make an appointment. Examples of available assistive technology include:
- Screen reader and magnification software
- Word prediction software
- Text to speech software
- Document scanner
- TTY
- Braille translator
- Alternate access/input devices (i.e. one-handed keyboards, trackball mice, on-screen keyboards)
- Large monitors
- Headsets
- Document holders
- Adjustable desks
- CCTVs
Employed Individuals with Disabilities Program
The Employed Individuals with Disabilities Program is a Medicaid buy-in program for workers with disabilities who don’t qualify for Medicaid because their earnings are too high.
Job Accommodation Network
The Job Accommodation Network is a source of free, expert, and confidential guidance on job accommodations and disability employment issues for individuals, family members and employers. The Job Accommodation Network provides one-on-one practical guidance on job accommodation solutions, self-employment, and entrepreneurship options for people with disabilities.
Job Searching Fact Sheet Library from the Maryland Department of Disabilities
The Job Searching Fact Sheet Library has information on many topics, including whether you have to disclose your disability to an employer, transitioning from school to work, and learning to find accessible transportation.
Learning Disabilities Association of America
The Learning Disabilities Association of America provides information to help adults with learning disabilities find employment help, get and stay organized, and succeed at work.
Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Job Seeking Tools
The Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Job Seeking Tools can help you find information about where to look for jobs, writing cover letters and résumés, and preparing for interviews.
Ticket to Work Program
The Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work Program supports career development for people ages 18 through 64 who receive Social Security disability benefits and want to work. Ticket to Work is free and voluntary.
US Department of Labor
The US Department of Labor has a number of resources related to employment for people with disabilities.

Other Maryland Agencies Providing Services to People With Disabilities
- The Behavioral Health Administration can connect you with help to handle a mental health concern or issue with drugs and alcohol
- The Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) provides a coordinated service delivery system for people with developmental disabilities
- The Governor’s Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing provides a list of resources for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind
