Payment Plans for Employers

Employers may request to pay their quarterly contributions through a payment plan. The Maryland Division of Unemployment Insurance offers 2 types of payment plans.

The first type is a standard plan (detailed below) and the second type is a custom plan.

On a standard payment plan, you must file your quarterly tax return and wage report on time.

At that time, 50% of your quarterly tax is due. The remaining tax due is spread over 3 equal monthly installments, due on the last day of each of the next 3 months.

Note: The last installment of this plan coincides with the due date of the next quarter, and unless another payment plan is in place, the reports must be filed and the tax must be paid by the due date.

You may request a payment plan viaMaryland Unemployment Insurance Portal (BEACON). To do so, log in to select Payments from the left menu, and then select Payment Plan.

A custom payment plan is established between an employer and the Maryland Division of Unemployment Insurance. To request a custom payment plan you can either:

Requests for payment plans should be made by the quarterly tax and wage report due dates:

  • April 30
  • July 31
  • October 31
  • January 31

If the end of the quarter is a Saturday or Sunday, the due date is the next business day.
